CSTR8 Golf - Feel the Bore Effect

Feel the Bore Effect

Building the putter out with performance is the desired goal of CSTR8 Golf Technology. Like the golf industry, design is never finished but the technology in the CSTR8 putter head is finalized. The next process for CSTR8 Golf Technology was to examine and build the neck of the putter. The question asked by CSTR8 Golf Technology was, what is the overall importance of the neck?

To answer this question, we must look back at what Karsten Solheim engineered back in the 1960’s. He produced the revolutionary offset neck. This allowed the players hands to travel past the ball before the putter contacted the ball. It is still the design standard in today's market. Today we see different variations of the offset neck. The golf industry has even created putters that have no neck at all, the shaft goes directly into the putter head. There truly is no wrong answer to neck design. The player is in charge. The key is what neck responds best with performance.

CSTR8 Golf Technology raised the question, if thru Vision Fit Technology we have created the player’s zero why a need for any offset. To test this theory CSTR8 Golf Technology created a neutral neck. This would allow the player to perform at their zero. The theory was tested at Demonstration Days (Demo Days) for the entire 2022 season. The theory of the neutral neck and the player’s zero performed. To the surprise of no one at CSTR8 Golf Technology, no one at these demo days questioned the design of the neck or asked for more offset.

The last question CSTR8 Golf Technology needed and answer concerning the neck was why the golf industry welds the neck onto the putter head. When you weld pieces together there is a gap within feel. The golf industry a few years back started talking about vibration during the stroke. Their solution was to change the composition of the shaft. Many players still believe in this design, but they were masking two problems into one: vibration and weight. I will explore this in later posts. CSTR8 Golf Technology looked at this issue differently. The neck should not be welded at all, it should be bored through the putter head and secured from the underneath side of the putter with a screw. What did the research prove out? A consistent feel with better performance. It just makes sense from design and performance
